Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital has installed two new dialysis machines to augment service and provide more access to renal dialysis patients.

The machines which were given by the National Health Insurance Authority in December 2024 were also accompanied by some consumables including 240 pieces of bloodlines, 168 dialyzers, 310 fistula needles and some acid concentrates among others.

The ENRH Dialysis Unit which is the first to start in the Western Region was initiated through the hospital’s own internally generated resources. The unit which has run for about five years now has provided care for hundreds of patients from all parts of the country.

The dialysis unit currently manned by well trained and experienced staff also provides training support for staff of sister facilities fledging in the provision of dialysis services.

The installation of the two new machines will reduce client turnaround time whilst improving quality of care.
