Effia Nkwanta redevelopment Prez assures contractor will soon return to site

President John Dramani Mahama has given assurance that Amandi will soon return to site to proceed with the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital redevelopment project.

“The contractor’s claims are currently being validated at the Ministry of Finance and the contractor will soon be paid to resume work”, the president said.

The president described the new block under construction as a very impressive work and gave assurance that Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital will be developed into a first class teaching hospital.

He noted that the project is an investment made by the people of Ghana and cannot be left go to waste.

The president was addressing some dignitaries, management, staff and some party supporters in the new 250 bed block under construction at the hospital.

The president indicated that one of the practices that has drawn the country back is the abandoning of projects by successive governments. “Government is like a relay race. One government passes the baton to the next and this project is a baton”, the president said. The redevelopment project which started in April 2022 has stalled since the beginning of 2025.

The project also includes renovation of the hospital’s laundry and kitchen building, administration, renovation of the exterior façade of the maternity and theater blocks, construction of 16 unit two-bed apartments for staff.

The president was accompanied by some dignitaries including the Minister of Health Honorable Kwabena Minta Akandoh, Deputy Minister of Health Honorable Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah among others.
