Medical doctors who have membership training from recognized medical colleges can now pursue fellowship training at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital. This follows collaborative efforts by the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons and Management of the hospital.
So far, Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital has attained full accreditation for Obstetrics and Gynecology, Anesthesia and family medicine. The hospital has also attained a level B accreditation for Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and General Surgery.
This development will contribute to critical human resource development for the health sector and affirm Effia Nkwanta’s disposition and commitment to the delivery of secondary or referral-level healthcare that meets international standards for quality to the people of the Western Region and its environs.
Furthermore, the hospital has now become a satellite campus for the training of medical students from the University Of Cape Coast School Of Medical Sciences.
Apart from training of doctors, Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital is also a key partner for training specialist nurses in various disciplines. Various colleges and universities also use the Hospital as a center for training degree nurses and physician assistants.
Also, ENRH has an MOU with the college of Pharmacy for the training of Doctorate of Pharmacy Students.
The Hospital has since accreditation by the College appointed a coordinator for training.
