Management of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital has paid a courtesy call at the palace of the chief of Takoradi Amanful, Nana Obo Atta Kojo Essoun II.
The visit marks beginning of a series of engagements with traditional authorities within the hospital catchment area on the current state of affairs and also to introduce the new medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Habib Ahmed.
The Head of Hospital administration, Mr. Michael Danso briefed the traditional leadership outlining current challenges the hospital faces. He noted the space constraints occasioned by the demolishing of many service points and the attendant inconveniences for both staff and clients.
He also highlighted on the critical human resource and equipment gaps which sometimes makes the hospital unable to see but refer cases outside the region.
The Medical Director of the hospital Dr Habib Ahmed encouraged the traditional leadership to own the hospital and be interested in its development. He said the ongoing redevelopment of ENRH into a teaching hospital would need the affiliation of a medical school and proposed the need to encourage Takoradi Technical University to run medical courses. He expressed hope that the teaching hospital when it comes on stream will attract more doctors to contain the health needs of the area.
Accompanying the management team were the head of nursing and midwifery services, DDNS Grace Anastasia Kenyah and Public Relations Officer Mr. Christian Baidoo.

The traditional leadership pledged support to add voice to the progress of the hospital.
