ENRH management visits chief of Essipon

Management of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital has paid a courtesy call at the palace of the chief of Essipon, Nana Kofi Abuna V.

The visit is part of a series of engagements with traditional authorities within the hospital catchment area on the current state of affairs and also to introduce the new medical Director of the Hospital, Dr Habib Ahmed.

The Medical Director briefed the chief outlining current challenges the hospital faces. He noted the space constraints occasioned by the demolishing of many service points and the attendant inconveniences for both staff and clients.

He also highlighted on the critical human resource and equipment gaps which sometimes makes the hospital unable to see but refer cases outside the region.

Dr Habib Ahmed encouraged the chief and people of Essipon to see themselves as part of the hospital and be interested in its development. He explained the ongoing redevelopment of ENRH into a teaching hospital would need the affiliation of a medical school and proposed the need to encourage Takoradi Technical University to run medical courses. He expressed hope that the teaching hospital, when it comes on stream, will attract more doctors to contain the health needs and improve the economy of the area.
